Avalon Stitchers (formerly known as Avalon Embroiderers' Guild) is an independent stitch group formed following the decision of the Embroiderers' Guild to no longer have a branch network.
We meet in Ashcott Village Hall which is between Street and Bridgwater (see Members Workshop Programme and Special Events pages for details of what is on).
We currently have about 50 members: please visit the Gallery page of the website to see some of their beautiful and varied work, alongside images of our most recent exhibition and workshops.
We usually meet on the 4th Saturday of the month, unless there is a bank holiday, in which case the meeting day will be moved, please check the Workshop Programme page for exact dates during the year. No meetings in August or December.
The day starts at 9.30 am and ends by 4 pm. Workshops run from 10 am prompt until approximately 3/3.30 pm.
We are a friendly group, and usually love to welcome new members and visitors. HOWEVER, PLEASE NOTE THAT MEMBERSHIP IS NOW FULL AND WE ARE OPERATING A WAITING LIST. This will be reviewed in May 2026 after current membership renewals have been completed. In the meantime, if you would like to arrange a visit to see what we are about, or if you would like to join the waiting list, please contact us through this website (see the MORE tab for the contact form). Please mark your note for the attention of the Membership Secretary, and someone will get back in touch with you ASAP.
Young people - whilst we would like to encourage young people to take up stitching and textile related activities, we regret that our insurance policy does not allow anyone under the age of 18 to attend our meetings - even those who are accompanied by a parent, grandparent or other carer.
We strive to offer a varied workshop programme, to meet the needs and interests of our members, ranging from traditional hand embroidery through to machine embroidery and textile art.
We have an extensive library of stitching and design books for members to borrow, and we usually have a sales table and a raffle at our monthly meetings.
All meetings are held in Ashcott Village Hall, High Street, Ashcott, TA7 9PZ. See How To Find Us for a map.
Tea and coffee are available all day but please bring your own packed lunch.
Please contact us for more details, using the form on the MORE tab.
