Chairman's Challenge
The challenge at the end of 2021 was for members to stitch a version of our new Avalon logo, which was designed by
Amy Desmier who is a textile student at Strode College.
Several members rose to the challenge and we voted on our favourite - the winner was Pauline Goldsmith - congratulations!
Avalon Stitchers made a donation to Pauline's chosen charity Project Trust. The charity supports young people to teach in other countries during their gap years. Pauline's grandson is planning to go to teach science in Zambia later this year after his A levels.
Lesley and Pam went to Strode College to present Amy with her prize and to show her the winning stitched logo.

Travelling Books continue to be a popular way of extending our stitching repertoire and making new friends.

Pauline Goldsmith is our Travelling Books co-ordinator - here is her new year message -

'Well, here we are in a new year and a new journey with our Travelling Books. At the moment meetings are planned to go ahead and the books will travel .... but who knows? We are still in a state of flux with Covid rules and guidance and must take each month as it comes. But I'm sure by the end of our journey we will have some stunning books to share and return to their owners. If you are taking part, I hope, like me, you have enjoyed researching and working on the different themes and, maybe trying out a new technique. Please don't forget to send Anne an image of your piece for the website.

I have been asked to set up a new journey starting in February. We have 3 members keen to travel and 3 more would mean both journeys will finish in July. If you would like to take part please contact me via the website. We have a book for you - all you need is an interesting theme and a love of stitch.'

Please visit our Travelling Books gallery page for lots of amazing pieces of stitching.
